Dr. Ed Wolf is currently working on a book project related to his fieldwork with Afro-descendant organizations and music and dance in northern Chile. He explores which characteristics of Blackness are represented in these expressions and how they relate to attitudes towards the Afro-Descendants in the region. This summer Dr. Wolf will be documenting the Fiesta del Gran Poder in La Paz, Bolivia as part of a joint project on the material cultures of matracas (ratchets) with Indiana University professor emeritus John Johnson. Next year, Dr. Wolf is planning to teach a class on Puerto Rican music as well as Andean music ensemble.
